Spooky season is just around the corner, and what could be more creepy crawly then a spider on their web? This craft not only works on motor planning and fine motor skills, but is also a fun creative way to celebrate the season!
Materials:
- Paper plate
- String
- Tape
- Glue
- Scissors
- Cardstock or Construction Paper
- Spider (You can draw your own or download our template HERE)
- Coloring Tools:
OT TIP: If your child is working on their grasp, use broken crayons; if they are working on tolerating different textures, I recommend having them paint and use cotton balls to apply the paint to the plate.
Step 1:
Gather your materials and set up your child at a table with an appropriate height (for details on positioning check out our Homework Strategies blog)
Step 2:
Color in your spider
Step 3:
Cut out the spider (bubble cutting is okay!)
Step 4:
Glue the spider to the cardstock or construction paper and cut it out once again.
Step 5:
Hole punch the top of the spider and set aside.
Step 6:
Have an adult cut out the middle of the paper plate
Step 7:
Use the hole punch to put holes into the edge of the paper plate
Step 8:
Cut a length of string (the longer the bigger the web) and then begin lacing it through the holes, ensuring you cross the middle each time
Step 9:
Once the web is built, keep a bit hanging down and tie the spider on.
